Elon Musk has been a dominant figure in the AI race with his firm xAI posing as a constant threat to OpenAI and Google. However, the path to creating artificial general intelligence is something that everyone

is still trailing. But now, Musk has given a timeline for the same, with which it seems like AGI could be a thing super soon. According to a report published by Business Insider, Elon Musk revealed his adjusted timeline for achieving AGI in an all-hands meeting at xAI's San Francisco headquarters. The report also mentions that Musk is confident that his firm can reach the milestone within two years, or maybe as early as 2026. Previously, the tech billionaire had also said that the Grok 5 AI model has a 10 percent chance of reaching AGI. Speculations are that Grok 5 will be released in early 2026.And Elon Musk doesn't shy away from accepting that achieving AGI will involve a lot of work behind the scenes. As per the report, Musk believes that AGI at xAI could surpass human intelligence and make his company the most powerful AI entity. He also said that the next couple of years will be pretty crucial for his AI firm, as if it survives the mentioned time, then it will outclass all its competitors as well. xAI is competing against tech giants like Google, Meta, and OpenAI in the current scenario. Furthermore, Elon Musk also told the staff that xAI would have an advantage over other firms because it can access around $20 billion to $30 billion in funding per year. At the beginning of this year, Tesla also integrated Grok into its vehicles. And yes, Musk also announced the plans to increase the number of GPUs at the firm from 2,00,000 to over a million. That being said, it will be interesting to see how far Elon comes in the race of achieving AGI in 2026.
