The Netflix series Stranger Things has used some iconic musical moments over five seasons. In the first season, writer-director duo Matt and Ross Duffer used The Clash's Should I Stay or Should I Go, while
in the fourth season, Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill became a viral moment that is still talked about today. In the current season, the makers have used Diana Ross' Upside Down, which fits in cleverly. However, the Duffers have promised one last 'needle drop' moment with a song that has yet to be heard in TV and film. Fans have already gotten some guesses lined up.
Duffer Brothers tease epic musical moment from Stranger Things 5 finale
In an interview with
The Radio Hag, Ross Duffer talked about
Stranger Things' memorable music moments. He shared, "We did it starting with season one with The Clash, where the goal is when we're putting in a song, we put a lot of thought into it. We really wanted it to reflect on the characters and the narrative journey. Obviously, Kate Bush and Running Up the Hill was, I guess, the pinnacle of that, merging character and [it] has a narrative purpose in the show. As opposed to just putting in songs that we like... how can this actually affect the narrative in a cool way? I think we've got most songs that we wanted in there. This final season, we've got a few that we've been wanting to put in. Finally we got them in." Matt Duffer added, "I can't talk about it. I'm particularly stoked about one needle drop. They've never allowed it to be in a TV show or film."
Ross went on to say, "I don't think without the Kate Bush from Season 4, it never would have happened. But that really did open up a few final closed doors for us."The Duffers also revealed that several big bands had reached out to them after Season 4, saying they would give their songs for free. However, they couldn't force any song into it, as it had to fit the narrative of the final season.
