CBFC slams rumours of role in Jana Nayagan's leak
In a statement issued to the Press Information Bureau, CBFC has called the rumours of involvement in Jana Nayagan leak, 'baseless and misleading.' The board has firmly denied that any leak originated from within its system, calling such claims inaccurate and irresponsible. In their statement the organisation shared using a secure system, not a weak link. CBFC follows a strict KDM (Key Delivery Message) protocol. In layman's language, even if someone has access to a film file, it cannot be viewed without the correct key. No key means no access.
CBFC in its statement, shared details of having tight access controls. They said that all certified films are protected through encrypted systems with restricted and monitored access. It’s not something that can be casually accessed or shared. The DCP (Digital Cinema Package) of Jana Nayagan was handed over to the applicant in Mumbai on March 17, with proper acknowledgement. Since then, it has not been in CBFC’s possession. It implies that once the film left their custody, the responsibility moved elsewhere. The claims linking the leak back to CBFC don’t stand up when you look at the timeline.
Jana Nayagan makers take legal action
Vijay’s
Jana Nayagan, already facing a long certification delay with CBFC, ran into trouble again after clips from the film leaked online on April 10. The footage, including the title and Vijay’s intro scene, spread quickly across WhatsApp and piracy platforms, with fans urging KVN Productions to take action.
Responding to the situation, KVN Productions LLP issued a strong statement on April 10. The makers confirmed that parts of the film had been accessed and circulated illegally by unidentified individuals, calling it a serious case of digital piracy. They warned that actions such as downloading, watching, storing, or sharing such content across platforms, including WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, or torrent sites, amount to a criminal offence and a clear violation of copyright laws. The makers urged the public to avoid engaging with any leaked material and to delete it immediately if received.
