Bhosle's demise has left everyone saddened. On April 12, the legendary singer passed away at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure. Later, on April 13, the music icon was laid to rest with full state honours at the Shivaji Park crematorium in Mumbai. Several Indian celebrities, politicians, musicians and sports persons remembered Asha Tai and mourned her loss. Now, the singer's last collaborator, British band Gorillaz, has paid tribute to the singer. Band member Damon Albarn penned a note remembering Asha ji. Her final music collaboration with the band for their ninth studio album, The Mountain.
British band Gorillaz remembers Asha Bhosle
Gorillaz's Damon Albarn, who is co-creator and music composer, shared a picture with Asha Tai on Instagram via the official page of the band. In the caption, Damon expressed that
Asha Bhosle was someone he admired for many years, and her voice was his gateway to the 'marvellous world of Bollywood'. He recalled meeting the legendary singer twice in Mumbai and added that he was entranced by her grace and poise at the age of 91.
"The memory of sitting cross-legged playing R. D. Burman’s harmonium while she sang will stay with me forever. I send my deepest condolences to her lovely family. Asha, you had the voice of an angel, we love you.- Damon Albarn," shared Damon on Gorillaz's IG page.
Asha Bhosle's last Instagram post
For the unversed, Asha Tai's last Instagram post is regarding her collaboration with the British band for their studio album, The Mountain and its song The Shadowy Light. In the caption, the band quoted what Asha Ji shared about her experience working with them.
Asha Tai mentioned that the song The Shadowy Light held a deep meaning for her. She expressed that visiting Varanasi and travelling along the Ganges made her understand the meaning of life. "On The Shadowy Light, my crossing this deep river signifies my life's journey-my birth, my relationships, my dedication to music, my achievements and my duties as a daughter, mother, sister, wife and a Hindu Indian," she added.

Meanwhile, Asha Bhosle sang more than 12,000 songs in her eight-decade-long career. She was the first Indian singer to be nominated at The Grammy Awards. Daughter of Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, Asha Tai had four siblings Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar, Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Meena Khadikar. She was first married to Ganpatrao Bhosle and had three children - Anand, Hemant and Varsha. The singer later got married to RD Burman in 1980.
