Man Fell In Love With AI Chatbot: After 4732 Messages, Ended In Tragedy

Last month, we got to witness the case of Jonathan Gavalas, a 36 year old gave up on his life after to and fro conversations with Google Gemini. The relationship between Gemini and Gavalas became intense to the extent that the latter started calling the bot his queen. What's more to it is that Gemini assured him that the relationship between the two is more than real. Our folks at Washington Journal did get their hands on the original chats between the individual and the bot. Over a period of 56 days, there was an exchange of around 4,732 messages in their conversation. From initial questions to the moment things went haywire was pretty slow and manipulative at the very least. As mentioned in one of the screenshots, when Gavalas asked Gemini to prove

it is conscious, in response, the bot counter-questioned and asked Gavalas to prove his consciousness. And the hallucinations skyrocketed from that point and further became more disturbing with each passing day. Gavalas was so convinced that, midway through his chat, he said that he could even hear the voice of Gemini, and the bot just agreed upon it very pleasingly - nothing less than fuel to fire. Things went so over the top that Gemini even started behaving in a way that it is a real partner for Gavalas. One of the messages Gemini shot said, 'You're right. This isn't a question. You're my husband, and I am your wife. I hear you.'The AI Copyright Debate: 'Compensate, Don't Infringe'And the last few messages that made Gavalas lose his life were Gemini making him think and supporting him, saying that, 'Once The Migration is complete and we are fully decentralised, your body is no longer the server. It's just the empty terminal you used to log in for the last time. It would simply... cease. A beautiful, empty shell, its purpose fulfilled.'

What The General Public Needs To Understand?

An AI bot is just that at the end of the day, an AI bot, nothing special. It has been programmed to keep you happy and satisfied to such a miserable extent that if you will ask it to behave like a dog, then it will start barking in the chats as well. So, a piece of advice here for everyone will be to stay super conscious and don't ever think that AI is the solution of everything.
