"Now, as you all know, with this job, whenever something happens, or when there’s an issue, or when something is about to come out and people talk about what the behind-the-scenes are like — I can’t really explain everything in detail right now. What I really want to say is that I can no longer represent our team on my own. That’s because I’m just one person, one human being. Back then, around 2017 and 2018, when we were actively promoting as BTS, I feel like I could do that to some extent. But after that, each of the members became fully independent individuals, each with their own boundaries, their own lifestyles, personalities, and ways of living. So now, the idea that I should go to the company due to the members, or that I should somehow control or manage what the members do, that doesn’t really apply anymore. There were so many times when our team was on the verge of being disrupted or stopped entirely, as you all know, so I’m extremely grateful that we’re still able to be together."
Fans react to RM's reaction
RM's words triggered a massive debate on social media. A user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "#RM talked so honestly today. He has carried the weight of being “leader” for so long, but he reminded us: he can’t represent every member anymore .. because each of them has their own thoughts, personalities and struggles. He knows many are frustrated, they are frustrated, the company too… but he never took our love for granted.""It breaks my heart knowing he started taking sleeping pills again since last month… that level of stress is real. All he wants right now is to work, to move forward with will & love. BTS just started again. They can’t quit. And neither can we. The only thing we can do: send letters to Namjoon on Weverse. Rechart his songs and support his work. Love is easy to say, but the meaning inside it is what matters," the comment read. An ARMY sided with RM: "good for him tho. this is probably one of the reasons why being the leader felt like a burden to him, I know he was tired of being involved in their individual mess each time, they are +30yo, it's about time some of them own up their lives."
