Amazon has made a major change to its music streaming service in India and it is one that many Prime subscribers may not be thrilled about. The US-based tech giant has introduced a new premium subscription called Amazon Music Unlimited, bringing high-resolution audio and Spatial Audio support to its music platform. However, the launch also means some features that were previously included with Prime will now require an additional payment. Starting July 2, Prime members will no longer get ad-free music streaming or offline downloads as part of their existing subscription. Those benefits are now moving behind the new Music Unlimited paywall. What Is Changing For Existing Users?Until now, Amazon Prime members in India could stream music without
advertisements and download tracks for offline listening at no extra cost. That arrangement is about to change. The e-commerce giant has now split its music service into three separate tiers: Amazon Music Unlimited, Amazon Music for Prime members and Amazon Music Free.Under the revised structure, Prime members will still have access to Amazon Music, but advertisements will be introduced and offline downloads will no longer be available. Users who want those features will need to subscribe to Music Unlimited. The move mirrors Amazon's earlier decision to introduce advertisements on Prime Video, where users were asked to pay an additional fee for an ad-free viewing experience. What Does Amazon Music Unlimited Offer?According to Amazon, Music Unlimited provides access to more than 100 million songs and podcasts. The biggest addition is support for HD, Ultra HD and Spatial Audio formats, including Dolby Atmos. For users with compatible headphones or speakers, the company claims the service offers a richer and more immersive listening experience compared to the standard version. Ad-free playback and offline downloads are also included as part of the subscription.Microsoft Changes GitHub Copilot Pricing: Pay Only For What You UsePricing And Free Trial DetailsAmazon Music Unlimited is priced at Rs 99 per month for Prime members. Non-Prime users will have to pay Rs 119 per month. To encourage users to try the new service, Amazon is offering a six-month free trial for Prime subscribers. The Flipkart rival has also confirmed that an ad-supported Amazon Music Free tier will arrive in India soon, allowing users to stream music without paying for a subscription.
