She went on to appear in supporting roles in romance K-dramas like Stock Struck, Love Is for Suckers, and Heartbeat, as well as the thrillers Doctor Lawyer, Snowdrop, and Good Partner. She also had a small role opposite her Beef co-star Song Kang-Ho in the 2021 film Emergency Declaration.
Seoyeon Jang's love for acting
Looking back, Jang revealed that despite growing up in London, she never dreamed of a career in Hollywood. She, however, did want to pursue K-dramas. But, when she thought that only limited her prospects. "I was so adamant in wanting to do K-dramas because that’s where my passion first formed for acting. Then I did Butterfly. I met great people, which opened more doors, and then came to Beef," she said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Leaving behind K-pop dream
Her move from London back to Korea, however, wasn't to work in K-dramas initially. "I started as a K-pop trainee," she revealed.Though she refuses to name the company that cast her to become an idol trainee when she was really young, she recalls moving back at the age of 19. But she dropped the ambition of K-pop after finding her passion for acting. When opportunities in the West started dropping by, she began considering work outside Korea. She says, "It was never me deciding to go down one route and trying to pursue it. It was just such a natural process. In hindsight, I’m so grateful that it happened this way."
