Lenin Bharathi, in a note, alleged that identifying workers only bit their uniforms to showcase generosity. He called Rajinikanth a ‘fake philanthropist’ by criticising him for not supporting workers during their tough times. He mentioned that Rajinikanth’s acts of kindness were selective rather than sustained support for workers’ causes.
For the unversed, Rajinikanth met Padma, a sanitation worker from T Nagar, at his home. She was invited by him. The superstar honoured her with a gold chain for finding an unclaimed pouch containing 45 sovereigns of gold jewellery and promptly informed her superiors before handing it over to the police. Rajinikanth got impressed by her actions and honoured her honesty. However, Lenin Bharathi’s comment sparked the debate.
