Anjuman
Saxena, the veteran actress who has been co-star to Rani Mukerji, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, to name a few, has once again impressed the audience with her performance in the JioHotstar show Chiraiya. After working with leading names, she can now confirm that nepotism is no longer a healthy discussion. Talking to Zoom exclusively, Anjuman spoke about her experience working with Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. She said, irrespective of the privilege they have, without talent and hard work, no producer would offer big-ticket films.
Anjuman Saxena supports Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor amid nepotism debate
Anjuman told Zoom, “I have worked with these kids, be it Alia Bhatt,
Varun Dhawan or Janhvi Kapoor, come from a lineage of film families. I have seen how hard-working they are. When it is called nepotism, I feel won’t a businessman want his son or daughter to take over his business? When this can happen in a business family, an actor, producer, or director would want their child to take the legacy forward in the same field.”
She added, “If you say just because of that they keep getting roles, yes, they might get that extra edge but you have to prove yourself. That is how you get the right kind of roles. If your film bombs at the box office, producers wouldn’t want to touch you. I believe they work really hard.”
Anjuman Saxena feels star kids enjoy privilege and its disadvantages
Anjuman felt that star kids enjoy privilege; they also have a lot to lose. “They have got much more riding on themselves because they have a lot to lose. The kind of name and backup that they have, the disadvantage is that they are constantly being compared, judged and have to keep answering many people. I don’t really see any sense in this discussion because everyone is trying their best. There are industry kids who did not wish to do this. Why can’t we talk about them? For them, people will say they’re not in the industry because they are not good enough or don’t have the flair to do this. If you question something, you will keep doing that. There is no end to it. Everybody is working hard; it is not right to question or criticise anyone,” she signed off. Anjuman worked with Alia and Varun in
Badrinath Ki Dulhania. She played an important role in Janhvi and Varun’s Prime Video film,
Bawaal.
