IU and Byeon Woo-seok’s K-drama Perfect Crown is in a fever pitch after the “yacht kiss” that went viral at the end of episode 6. With the series heading into its second half arc, episodes 7 and 8, coming up, should see the story move away from the business-like “contract marriage” and into the realm of high-emotion drama. The Disney+ series continues its strong global run with a mix of romance and royal politics. In fact, the contract marriage rules are blurring between heiress Hui-ju and Grand Prince Ian, now slowly turning into something real. The romantic kiss between the two lead characters went viral, becoming the biggest highlight and sparking fan theories. But it also marked the change from controlled emotions to undeniable chemistry.
Yatch kiss aftermath
The romantic chemistry between Grand Prince Ian (Byeon Woo-seok) and Seong Hui-ju (IU) exploded in the last episode, leaving fans in a state of shock. Episode 7 puts the aftermath of the yacht kiss front and centre.Hui-ju tries to dismiss the kiss by saying she misspoke but Ian refuses to let her retract it and says he meant it. Obviously, this creates awkwardness and raises the emotional stakes, as Hui-ju finally confronts Ian about his true feelings and the “business first” boundaries of their marriage are shattered.
Wedding bells amid palace schemes
As formal preparations for the royal wedding begin, the "contract" aspect of their union is under heavy fire from internal and external forces. Queen Mother Yoon Yi-rang (Gong Seung-yeon) remains deeply sceptical of the union and is expected to intensify her efforts to dismantle the engagement. Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo (Noh Sang-hyun) finds his "yearning gaze" toward Hui-ju noticed by the Queen, hinting that his suppressed feelings may soon spark a political and romantic conflict.
Old wounds surface
Episode 8 is going to be a moment for Hui-ju. She starts to learn more about Ian. What makes him the way he is. We find out about the things that happened to him when he was a kid and how hard it is for him to deal with being a royal who is not really in power. Hui-ju used to care about becoming a noble but now she really wants to help Ian. This change in her is what wins Ian over.
Perfect Crown is not about romance anymore it is about how the characters feel. The show is getting more exciting with the problems from the kiss on the yacht the stress of the wedding and the politics of the palace all happening at the time. The next episodes will be very dramatic. Will have big moments, for Hui-ju and Ian.
