actor Shivarajkumar has opened up about an difficult phase during the making of Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi. Speaking at a promotional event, the actor revealed that he initially loved the script and immediately agreed to join the project after hearing the narration from director Buchi Babu Sana. However, shortly after, he faced a health scare. Shivarajkumar portrays the powerful and authoritative Gournaidu a crucial role in the film which is a sport-drama said talk about identity and empowerment. The film also stars Jahnvi Kapoor with music by AR Rahman.
Why Shivarajkumar Almost Stepped Away from Ram Charan’s Peddi
At a promotional event, Shivarajkumar has shared an emotional behind-the-scenes story about his involvement in the upcoming Ram Charan-starrer Peddi. He recalled that he was invested in the story when director Buchi Babu Sana narrated it to him. He said he liked the subject so much that he even discussed the project with Ram Charan on the very same day.
However, soon after agreeing to the project, Shivarajkumar was diagnosed with cancer. This required him to travel to the United States for treatment, bringing uncertainty to his professional commitments. During this challenging period, the actor admitted that he seriously considered stepping away from Peddi, given the unpredictability of his health and recovery timeline.
Despite the uncertainty, the Peddi team chose to wait for Shivarajkumar rather than choosing someone else for his role. The actor expressed gratitude to director Buchi Babu Sana and the production team for their patience and support during his recovery phase.He shared that the filmmaker insisted on having him in the film and reassured him that they were willing to adjust schedules until he returned.
About Peddi's Ticket price hike
Peddi has received a major boost ahead of its release, with the Andhra Pradesh government officially approving premiere shows from June 3. Alongside the early screenings, the state has also sanctioned a temporary ticket price hike, further adding to the hype around the film. However, Telangana is yet to announce its decision regarding similar permissions. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi is a rural sports drama that explores themes of identity and empowerment.
The premiere shows are scheduled to begin at 8 PM on June 3 in Andhra Pradesh. As part of the approval, ticket prices for premiere screenings have been fixed at Rs 600, including GST. Additionally, the government has allowed a temporary hike of Rs 100 for single-screen theatres and Rs 125 for multiplexes during the initial run.
