Kangana
Ranaut has come out in strong support of the Aditya Dhar and Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar franchise, calling it a game-changer for Hindi cinema. In a recent interview, Kangana said the film has done what many tried and failed to do, which is bring audiences back to theatres. She also praised the franchise for telling stories that truly connect with the Indian public, while raising an interesting demand for a standalone film on National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
What Did Kangana Ranaut Say About Dhurandhar 2?
Kangana Ranaut did not hold back in her praise. She said Bollywood had been slowly losing its audience to South Indian cinema, which she felt had stayed more rooted in culture and regional identity. "The film industry, in a way, was becoming disconnected from the country. Audience participation had declined, studios were depleting, and people didn't want to watch these films anymore," she said in a podcast with ANI.She went on to say that Dhurandhar changed this narrative. "With such relevant films, people want to watch them. The country has identified such films. You can see how the film has done amazing business as people wanted to see their own stories. Dhurandhar has revived the film industry and gave new hope," Kangana added.
She had also earlier made her feelings clear at a public event. At the International Film Festival of Delhi 2026, Kangana described Dhurandhar 2 as a reflection of 'New India', rooted in culture and patriotism. The actress clearly sees the franchise as a symbol of a larger cultural shift in Indian cinema. The Dhurandhar franchise recently became the first Indian film series ever to cross the Rs 3,000 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Dhurandhar The Revenge alone has collected over Rs 1,700 crore globally and continues its run in several territories.
Kangana Lauds R Madhavan, Says Ajit Doval Should Have A Separate Film
While the entire cast received love, Kangana Ranaut had a special shoutout for her Tanu Weds Manu co-star R Madhavan. In Dhurandhar, Madhavan plays a character widely believed to be inspired by Ajit Doval, India's National Security Adviser."Madhavan was terrific in the film. I have met Ajit Doval ji and he has got a huge personality. I think there should be an entirely separate film on Ajit Doval. Only then an actor would be able to do justice to his character. But Madhavan was very close. He is a very good actor," Kangana said.In the film, R Madhavan plays Ajay Sanyal, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, who was the lead negotiator in the 1999 Kandahar hijacking. Dhurandhar 2 stars Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Gaurav Gera, and Rakesh Bedi. It is produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
