Looks like Winter Soldier has found a new home after Black Widow. Following the trail of Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan is the latest Marvel veteran to graduate into the world of DC. The 43-year-old,
who reprised his Bucky Barnes in 2025's Thunderbolts* (The New Avengers) and will be seen in Avengers: Doomsday, is gearing up to unleash terror in the Gotham City, and the world of Robert Pattinson's Batman. And even before either DC or Stan could confirm his casting in Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II, his stylist has dropped the bomb by revealing his role in the new film. Stan is set to play Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, and touted to be one of the most dangerous supervillains in all of Gotham.
Sebastian Stan to play Harvey Dent/Two-Face
Hollywood corridors have remained abuzz with reports that Stan has been roped in for
The Batman 2, which will hit the theatres in 2027. As fans patiently waited for an update, Stan's stylist, Michael Fisher posted two Instagram stories with images of the actor's look as the character, giving away a confirmation about the role. While one photo showed Stan in a sharp suit with half his face digitally scarred, presenting his classic Two-Face imagery, the second one labeled the actor as Harvey Dent in the sequel's cast.
The Hollywood Reporter's Heatvision newsletter eventually also confirmed that Stan will indeed be portraying Harvey Dent. This comes as a mystery surrounding
Scarlett Johansson's character remains active, as the expected return of Barry Keoghan as the Joker. The casting mashup has surely raised stake for Pattinson's Bruce Wayne, who will now have a lot to deal with.
Who is Harvey Dent?
Harvey Dent, the character that Sebastian Stan would play, is central to the
Batman universe. He is often referred to as the most tragic and complex villain of Gotham. He's also the most symbolic. A former exemplary prosecutor and ally of the Dark Knight who falls from grace to represent the fragility of justice in the corrupt city. Harvey Dent begins as the idealistic District Attorney. But when his face gets horribly scarred, it breaks his psyche and transforms him into the villainous Two-Face. His transformation embodies the eternal conflict between order and chaos and becomes the key to explore the darker side of the Batman myth.

Though speculations are rife that his casting implies that he'll get to turn the classic villain, as he perfectly embodies the part in his look tests.
