The incident occurred when the two-time Grammy winner arrived for a scheduled appointment and was confronted by a woman who allegedly threw an unknown substance at him before fleeing the scene. While Buckingham was not injured, the episode has drawn attention due to his past legal battles with an alleged stalker.

According to reports in NBC 4 Los Angeles, the incident took place as Lindsey Buckingham entered a building in Santa Monica. A woman, described by officials as a stalking suspect, approached him and threw an unidentified substance before quickly leaving the area. Police have since identified the suspect, although no arrests had been made as of Wednesday. Authorities have since indicated that an arrest is expected soon.
The report further said that the woman was known to Buckingham from previous incidents, suggesting a possible link to earlier stalking concerns. Investigators believe the suspect may have tracked Buckingham’s schedule and location prior to the confrontation. Both the Santa Monica Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department are currently handling the case.

The attack comes more than a year after Buckingham was granted a permanent restraining order against a woman identified in court documents as Michelle. At a hearing in December 2024, Buckingham reportedly presented evidence including a photograph taken outside his residence and an audio clip. The court subsequently extended a temporary restraining order, granting him five years of protection.
In his testimony, Buckingham alleged that the woman had obtained his wife Kristen’s business phone number and began contacting her in 2021. He claimed she left lengthy messages, including assertions that she was his child and threats directed at him and his family. Buckingham denied any personal connection and stated that the claims were baseless.
