Dhar is gearing up for an ambitious new chapter in his filmmaking journey, and this time, it could feature Ranveer Singh at the forefront of a grand mythological action film. As per reports, the filmmaker has fully moved on from his long-discussed project The Immortal Ashwatthama, which was supposed to star Vicky Kaushal in the lead. However, Dhar is apparently looking to work with his Hamza, aka, Ranveer Singh again. Here's everything we know about the project.
Aditya Dhar wants to sign Ranveer Singh for his next film
Dhurandhar director Aditya Dhar has renewed his exclusive first-look deal with Jio Studios for another two years, according to

Dhurandhar. After the success of
Dhurandhar, a new film deal was the best way forward. Sources suggest that the multi-year, multi-film agreement was quietly renewed just ahead of the release of
Dhurandhar on December 5 last year.Interestingly, Dhar was earlier attached to direct
The Immortal Ashwatthama, envisioned as a large-scale mythological epic with a massive budget. Vicky Kaushal was set to headline the project, and it had generated significant buzz right after the success of
Uri: The Surgical Strike. However, mounting costs and budgetary concerns led to the film being shelved. Reports now indicate that Dhar has moved on entirely, with no intention of reviving the ambitious venture.
Instead, the filmmaker is believed to be exploring a new mythological action film and is keen on collaborating with Ranveer Singh once again and has even discussed a mythological actioner with the actor. However, it is still early days, and an official announcement may take time.
Aditya-Ranveer gearing up for Dhurandhar 2
Currently, Dhar is focused on wrapping up
Dhurandhar: The Revenge, slated for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The sequel promises to be bigger in scale and action than its predecessor and features Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and Danish Pandor in pivotal roles alongside Ranveer.
Dhurandhar itself had an unusual journey. Though it arrived quietly on Netflix, the impact was anything but subdued. The film turned into a blockbuster and each character left a strong impression on audiences. Despite being banned in six Gulf countries as well as Pakistan, the spy thriller gained global traction on the streaming platform. In a surprising twist, it even emerged as the top film in Pakistan during its first week on Netflix. The film, which was only released in one language, has emerged as the biggest-ever Indian film at the domestic box office with more than Rs 838 crore net business in India.
