Kapoor’s glimpse as Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has left everyone speechless. The actor looks promising in an iconic role, and fans have been getting curious to see his magic on the big screen once again on Diwali 2026. Arun Govil, who is Indian television's original Ram, is playing the role of King Dashrath (father of Lord Rama) in the magnum opus. Recently, he heaped praise on Ranbir Kapoor and said that he will try to do his best in the role of Lord Rama. Apart from that, Arun also stated that he is a very cultured man.
Arun Govil Heaps Praise On Ranbir Kapoor
In a statement with the media,
Arun Govil is feeling excited to see Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama. He said, “As far as Ranbir is concerned, I mean, he is a good actor. He works very hard. He is a very cultured kid, basically, you know. He has a moral culture; I have seen it many times. So, I am very sure about it that he will try to do his level best.” For the unversed, a small glimpse of Arun Govil as Raja Dashrath was also seen in Ramayana’s latest promo. The film is high on VFX, and it will tell the entire story of Lord Rama right from his birth to Ravana vadh.
Coming back to Arun Govil, the actor shot to fame in the late 80s with the role of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan. The show’s Sita, played by Dipika Chikhlia, and Lakshman, played by Sunil Lahri, also shared their views on Ranbir Kapoor’s glimpse as Lord Rama in Ramayana.

Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is considered one of the most ambitious projects being made in Indian cinema. Produced by Namit Malhotra, the magnum opus has music composed by Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman. The Ramayana is being made in two parts. The film also features Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Yash as Ravana. The last leg of the shoot is still pending. After that, the makers will kickstart promotions for Ramayana Part 1 from July 2026. The makers are yet to make the official announcement about the first installment’s release date.
