Cannes Jury 2026: Demi Moore, Chloe Zhao Join Park Chan-Wook; Why Did Jacob Elordi Drop Out?

The

rest of the Cannes Film Festival jury has been announced for 2026. Earlier, only President Park Chan-wook had been announced. The full list of jury members has been revealed; they included awards favourites Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao and Stellan Skarsgård. The jury will be watching all 22 films in the main competition and awarding the Palme d'Or. Another report suggested that Frankenstein actor Jacob Elordi was also set to join the jury but he had to pull out at the last minute due to a foot injury. The 79th edition will take place from May 12 to 23, 2026.

Cannes Film Festival 2026 jury announced

The French film festival took to social media to unveil the jury member. They announced that American actress Demi Moore, Irish and Ethiopian actress Ruth Negga, Belgian filmmaker Laura Wandel, Chinese filmmaker Chloé Zhao, Chilean filmmaker Diego Céspedes, Ivorian and American actor Isaach De Bankolé, Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty, and Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård would join Park Chan-wook on the 79th edition.

The jury members have many connections to Cannes. Moore's film The Substance, directed by Coralie Fargeat, won the best screenplay award in 2024. Skarsgård and the cast of Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value presented their Oscar-nominated film last year at Cannes. Wandel's film Adam’s Sake was screened at Cannes’ Critics Week and Laverty wrote The Wind that Shakes the Barley and I, Daniel Blake, both of which won the Palme d’or for Ken Loach. Meanwhile, Cespedes won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes last year with his first film The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo.Last year, French actress Juliette Binoche was president and the main prize went to Jafar Panahi’s It Was Just an Accident. This year, films by James Gray, Asghar Farhadi, Pedro Almodóvar, Paweł Pawlikowski, Ira Sachs, Hirokazu Kore-eda, László Nemes and Ryusuke Hamaguchi are all competing for Palme d’or.

Why Jacob Elordi drop out of Cannes jury?

Euphoria star Jacob Elordi was originally due to be part of the Cannes jury lineup. According to Page Six Hollywood, the actor was set to join but he was replaced after he broke his foot. The jury members have a busy schedule during the two weeks. In addition to watching the films in competition, the jurors also attend premieres, press conferences, photo calls and parties on the Croisette.

The actor, who will next be seen in the feature film Dog Stars, can currently be seen in the third season of HBO's Euphoria. Elordi has been spotted with Kendall Jenner at various hot spots in California, including the Coachella Music Festival.
