The Team Walks the Red Carpet

Walking the red carpet with pride, Diljit Dosanjh whose performance as Punjab’s iconic musician Amar Singh Chamkila earned wide acclaim was joined by director Imtiaz Ali, who brought the singer’s turbulent life to screen with honesty and sensitivity. They were accompanied by producer Mohit Choudhary, Monika Shergill (VP, Content, Netflix India), and Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh (Director, Original Films, Netflix India).

Imtiaz talks about the film

At the panel, Imtiaz further added that the focus for him was the music of the late Punjabi singer. He stated, "For me this was a love story between an artist and his art. A singer and performance are like lovers, and at some point of time you don’t do it for money, success and glamour, you do it for the performance itself, beyond any logic, to serve their audiences, and that was the strongest impulse in Amar Singh Chamkila’s character and that is what I focused on."Amar Singh Chamkila also stars Parineeti Chopra as the late singer's wife, Amarjot Kaur.
