Balaji's Karuppu is recovering nicely after a tough start on Thursday, May 14, when the film's release was delayed. The Tamil feature opened without any problems on May 15 and since then it's been no looking back. Starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, Karuppu has risen even higher on day two as it took in Rs 23.40 crore nett. While it is unlikely that the film will enter the Rs 100 crore club this weekend, it might just come very close. Check out the detailed breakdown of Karuppu's India numbers below!
Karuppu box office collection day 2
According to Sacnilk,
Karuppu saw a growth of 51 per cent from opening day. On Friday, the Tamil film collected Rs 15.5 crore and added another Rs 23.4 crore on Saturday, May 15. Its total India nett collections grew to Rs 38.90 crore. Internationally, as well,
Karuppu is proving to be a crowd-puller. It earned Rs 10 crore on its second day, with the overseas gross becoming Rs 21 so far.
The Tamil film would have definitely entered the Rs 100 crore club on Sunday, May 17, if it had managed to be released on Thursday; the one-day delay cost the film financially but raised the anticipation among fans when it finally released on Friday. The strong word of mouth amongst audiences and the industry has certainly helped the film.
Karuppu has also released a Telugu version called
Veera Bhadrudu, which is also performing well in Telangana.
