Why Is Prabhas' Adipurush Facing Flak After Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana Teaser?

The

internet was instantly reminded of Om Raut’s Adipurush (2023) after the teaser of Ramayana premiered today. The Prabhas-led film was highly anticipated, but its release turned the tables. The mythological drama was heavily criticised for its poor execution and dialogue. With Ramayana, the mood on the internet is still better. Numerous comments comparing both films based on the Hindu epic indicate that the audience has given mixed reviews, but are still favouring the Nitesh Tiwari directorial. Ramayana: Part 1 releases in theatres on November 6. Rama was the title of the teaser.

Ramayana vs Adipurush

The internet opened old files of Adipurush to compare with Ramayana. One netizen took a dig tweeting, “So Some Indian Masterstroke People Will TEACH " Dneg " How To Make VFX. 8 Times Oscar WINNING VFX Company .... And Some Masterstroke People Are Giving GYAN to " Dneg " Over VFX. Jalte Raho .... RAMAYANA Will Earn ATLEAST 400- 500 cr On Day 1.” Another commented, “Adipurush wasn’t even 0.5% of what the Ramayana truly represents!!!” “After Adipurush we needed this healing. This is how you respect and represent your culture and history,” read a comment. Another netizen added, “The hate that came to the Ramayana because of Adipurush will be erased by Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana.”

Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, starred Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janki, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, alongside Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage, Vatsal Sheth, among many others. The writer of Adipurush, Manoj Muntashir was slammed for not respecting Ramayan. Reportedly, a heavy amount was invested in making Adipurush a visual spectacle. However, the VFX was done poorly. For a 3D viewing experience, Adipurush couldn't deliver jaw-dropping visuals. After receiving backlash, the film made it to OTT platforms.
