During a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra for his podcast on YouTube, Akshay Kumar recalled the days early in his acting career when per-day payments were the industry standard. He appeared genuinely nostalgic about what those arrangements meant to him on a personal level. He said, "Uss time mujhe achhe khaase mil jaate thay; din ka mil jata tha 8 se 9 lakh (Back then, I used to get a pretty good amount; I would earn around Rs 8 to Rs 9 lakh per day)."
