Speaking about the incident for the first time, Zoya Akhtar confirmed that a robbery had indeed taken place at her office premises. The filmmaker revealed that multiple hard disks had been stolen and that the production house immediately approached the authorities after discovering the issue. "Yes, there has been a robbery in my office, hard disks have been stolen. We filed a complaint and police has made some arrests as well," Zoya told
Bollywood Hungama.The filmmaker further said that the crime was carried out by insiders familiar with the office environment and storage systems. "It's sad to what extent people go to make money," she added. Despite the shocking breach, Zoya also reassured that the company had maintained backup copies of all important material.

The case revolves around the disappearance of 66 hard disks from the office of
Tiger Baby Films, the production banner co-founded by Zoya Akhtar and filmmaker Reema Kagti. According to reports, the missing hard drives allegedly contained highly sensitive production data linked to films, OTT projects, advertisements and archival material. Investigators believe the stolen devices included raw footage, edited scenes, post-production backups and unreleased project files.The reported value of the stolen storage devices and data loss is estimated to be between Rs 12 and 13 lakh. The missing data included content connected to popular projects like
Made in Heaven and
Ghost Stories. The matter reportedly came to light on May 21 after staff members at the production company failed to locate several hard disks needed for ongoing work and project access. An internal inspection allegedly uncovered damaged storage boxes and multiple empty hard disk cases inside the office premises. The company’s inventory reportedly listed 119 hard disks in total, out of which 66 were found missing. The stolen drives are believed to have had storage capacities ranging from 16TB to 72TB, indicating the massive scale of data potentially involved in the theft.The official complaint in the case was reportedly filed by Mehjabeen Mushtaq Shaikh, who works as the executive assistant and HR administrator at Tiger Baby Digital LLP. Following the complaint, Bandra police registered an FIR against Mohammad Shahid Azim Khan and Ritesh Suresh Shah. Both accused have since been arrested and remanded to police custody till May 29 as investigations continue.
