ProducerVipul Amrutlal Shah has secured a major win in a cheque bounce case connected to his 2009 film London Dreams. The court's order has finally put an end to a dispute that dragged on for 16 years. The Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Andheri delivered its verdict on April 15, closing a long-pending case that dates back to the film’s production phase. According to a statement issued by Shah’s legal team, the case began in 2009 when the filmmaker, through his banner Sunshine Pictures Private Limited, extended financial support to the producers to help complete the film. However, the repayment cheque issued to him was returned unpaid. It prompted him to initiate legal proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

As reported by Hindustan Times, the court has now convicted the film’s producers, PJ Singh and Gita Bhalla Singh, for cheque dishonour after years of hearings, delays and legal formalities. The court has directed them to clear the outstanding amount within 90 days. Failure to do so will result in a nine-month prison sentence. Shah’s lawyer noted that although the case took considerable time, the outcome reaffirmed faith in the legal process.

Around the same time, a major Rs 120 crore deal reportedly fell through, adding to the financial strain. To ensure completion, Shah is said to have waived his fee, while Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn reportedly agreed to reduce their remuneration by 25 per cent.
Speaking at the time, Shah attributed the financial setbacks to the global economic downturn of 2008. He had said that the team collectively decided to continue the film on a reduced budget rather than compromise on finishing it altogether.Despite the scale and expectations surrounding the project, London Dreams failed to perform as anticipated at the box office. In recent years, Shah has continued his work as a producer, backing
