Legendary
singer Asha Bhosle was laid to rest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park crematorium on Monday, April 13. The Padma Vibhushan recipient breathed her last on April 12 at Breach Candy Hospital, where she was admitted for exhaustion and a chest infection on Saturday (April 11). She is survived by her son Anand Bhosle, granddaughter Zanai and grandson, Chaitanya. After her cremation, Asha’s younger brother, veteran music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar, confirmed building Asia’s biggest hospital in her and the late Lata Mangeshkar’s honour. In an official statement, he revealed that the project was supposed to be a tribute to their eldest sister, Lata, but before the inauguration, Asha passed away.

In his statement to IANS, Hridaynath said the Mangeshkar family wants to build the largest hospital in the memory of
Lata and Asha. He revealed that the inauguration was scheduled for April 16, and Bhosle couldn’t see the vision come to life. He also added that the hospital will now be named after Lata and Asha. According to IANS, the hospital is expected to be most likely be named either 'Lata-Asha Institute of Medical Sciences' or 'Lata-Asha Mangeshkar Ayurvidhya Sansthan'.
Asha Bhosle dies at 92
Asha was 92. On Sunday, her mortal remains were taken to her residence in Mumbai’s Lower Parel for the family members to pay their last respects. The funeral took place on Monday. Many prominent names from the entertainment industry attended the last rites of the legendary singer on Monday. Bollywood celebrities including
Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, Tabu, Vivek Oberoi, music composer Anu Malik, singers Anup Jalota, Sudesh Bhosale, and Shaan, and filmmaker Ramesh Sippy were seen at Shivaji Park during the last rites, offering their condolences. A R Rahman, Ranveer Singh, Riteish Deshmukh, and many others visited the bereaved family at Casa Grande before the funeral.

At the crematorium, Shaan and Sudesh Bhosale even sang Asha Bhosle's iconic song
Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar. Shreya Ghoshal, who couldn’t attend the funeral due to her ongoing international tour, paid homage to the singer by singing some of her classics, including
Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar and
Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani during the London gig of her Unstoppable World Tour. Bhosle was given the guard of honour at her residence. The mortal remains of the legend were draped in the tricolour, as she was cremated with full state honours.
