Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan praised Bharathiraja’s contribution across several languages, calling him a pioneer of rural storytelling. Several other celebrities also took to social media to mourn the loss of the legend.

The passing of veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja has left the Indian film industry in mourning, with tributes pouring in from actors, directors, and fans across the country. Known for his contribution to Tamil cinema through realistic storytelling and rural stories, his legacy continues to be celebrated.
Revathy was among the first to express her grief, crediting Bharathiraja for shaping her career. In an emotional message, she wrote that she owed her journey in cinema to the filmmaker. It has to be noted that he cast her after spotting her photograph in a magazine. Revathy made her debut in
Mann Vasanai (1983) and later worked with him in Pudhumai Penn and Oru Kaidhiyin Diary. Sarathkumar also shared a note expressing his grief over the legend's death.
Khushbu Sundar also paid tribute, calling Bharathiraja’s passing a devastating loss for Tamil cinema. She described his films as benchmarks in filmmaking and recalled his warmth and personal connection with actors. Filmmaker Arun Matheswaran, who directed Bharathiraja in Rocky (2021), remembered him as someone who “lived and breathed cinema,” mentioning that working with him was a defining experience in his career.Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan expressed grief over the passing of legendary filmmaker and Padma Shri awardee Bharathiraja, calling it an irreplaceable loss to the Indian film industry. He also mentioned acclaimed films like Aaraadhana, made with his brother Megastar Chiranjeevi, and Seethakoka Chiluka, which received national recognition. Describing Bharathiraja as a filmmaker who beautifully portrayed rural life and human relationships, he extended condolences to the family and fans, stating that his legacy will be remembered forever.
Chiranjeevi also expressed grief over the passing of Bharathiraja, calling him one of Indian cinema’s greatest storytellers. He said the filmmaker transformed village life, human relationships, the innocence of love, and everyday emotions into timeless cinematic poetry that touched millions and inspired generations of filmmakers. He mentioned that Bharathiraja, a Padma Shri awardee and multiple National Film Award winner, made an immeasurable contribution to Indian cinema.Chiranjeevi also recalled working under his direction as Puliraju in

He added that although the filmmaker is no longer alive, his legacy will live on through his films, and extended condolences to his family, friends, and admirers.Actors and filmmakers including Sibi Sathyaraj also expressed grief, calling Bharathiraja’s work a “textbook of filmmaking.” His father Sathyaraj had collaborated with the director in several films.
