Farhan Akhtar Reveals 'Insecurities' Crept In After Jee Le Zaraa Delay: Thought I Was Wasting Time

film with three globally recognised stars, Jee Le Zaraa never went on floors. Farhan often assured fans that the film wasn’t shelved. Now, in a recent interview for the promotions of 120 Bahadur, the actor-director revealed the ‘stressful period’ when the film kept getting postponed.

On the YouTube channel Unfiltered by Samdish, Farhan revealed, “So my film Toofan was released in 2021, and right after that, I was set to direct a film called Jee Le Zara. It just kept getting delayed, and for those two years, I kept saying no to all other opportunities that came my way. I did that because when you have to direct, you can only focus on that. Shelved or backburner?

He added, “The date for the film’s shooting just kept shifting ahead. It was such a stressful period because I thought that I was wasting time, and before I knew it, two and a half years had gone by. There are some personal insecurities as well. I started feeling that maybe people will think that I wouldn’t be able to direct. It had been 12 years since I had directed a film, and maybe people would doubt my skills. When you sit with a therapist and you tell these things, you start realising where all these things are coming from. Because I didn’t want to say, ‘Let me move on from this film.’”In a previous interview on the YouTube channel Our Stupid Reactions, Farhan confirmed that Jee Le Zaraa is not shelved, and hinted at change in cast after multiple delays. "I would hate to say that it’s shelved. What I will say is that it’s put on a back burner. It is a film that will happen. I don’t know when it will be. But it’s too delicious a script. There’s so much work that has already been done on it. I finished all the location scouts and have recorded music for the film. All of the stuff is done. So it’s just a matter of time that we need to, we’ll get back to it again. I can’t comment on the cast on that anymore. But will the film happen? The film will happen," he said.
