Who Is Kannada TV Actress Kavya Gowda's Husband Somashekar?

Kannada actress Kavya Gowdaand her husband Somasekhar were attacked by the latter’s relatives over family disputes on January 26. While he was allegedly stabbed and sustained injuries, she escaped the altercation

unhurt. Somasekhar was rushed to a hospital in Bengaluru and the doctors confirmed he is out of danger. While Kavya is a popular name in the Kannada entertainment industry, Somasekhar has no connection with showbiz. A complaint has been filed at the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru. The cops have registered cases under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal offences such as assault, criminal intimidation and unlawful restraint.

Kavya, a famous Kannada actress, married Somasekhar, a businessman, in 2021. As per reports, he is into real estate. The family dispute was over a family property in Bengaluru’s KR Puram, reportedly valued at nearly Rs 100 crore.

Kavya Gowda, Somasekhar family dispute explained

The family dispute was over the property where Kavya and Somasekhar, who live with his elder brother Nandish and sister-in-law Prema. Tensions in the household have been prevalent for several years. The dispute escalated into a physical altercation on January 26, Republic Day, between Prema, her sister Priya, and her father Ravikumar. Following the incident, Kavya filed a complaint against the trio. Responding to this, Prema presented her version of the events to the cops. Prema said in a statement that though Kavya-Somasekhar live with them under the same roof, the couple has a different floor. The conflict reportedly escalated when the actress’ worker entered her kitchen area. In addition, Prema made serious allegations against Kavya, claiming that she was verbally abused and physically assaulted during the altercation. She further said that slippers were thrown at her and the actress repeatedly used abusive language. Prema also stated that her belongings were used when she wasn’t in the city. A complaint was filed earlier regarding this at the Banaswadi police station.

Not just Kavya, Prema also accused Somashekhar of misbehaving with her sister during the altercation. She revealed that during the scuffle, she was pushed, resulting in her taali (mangalsutra) being snatched. According to Prema’s father, the property was being constructed for her and Nandish by the latter’s father-in-law, who asked them to stay in the main house until the construction was complete. Prema’s father claimed that the incident took place after Kavya demanded Prema and Nandish to leave the house. The police has recorded statements by both parties and an investigation is underway.
