Why Vikram and Shwetambari were arrested?
According to the FIR filed at Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, Rajasthan, Dr Murdia alleged that Vikram and his team lured him into investing more than Rs 30 crore in a film project. They allegedly assured him that the film would generate profits of up to Rs 200 crore. The project was said to be a biographical film meant to pay tribute to Dr Murdia’s late wife.
Vikram's previous clarification
In November 2025, Bhatt was accused of misappropriating funds under the pretext of producing a biopic in honour of Dr Murdia’s late wife. The filmmaker clarified in a statement to NDTV. He said, "Yes, I found out today that Ajay Murdia, the founder of Indira IVF, has filed an FIR not just against me but against eight of us. I have read the FIR, and in my view, it is misleading. The police have been completely misguided because the things written in the FIR are absolutely wrong."He added, "It's obvious that he must have created some fabricated, forged documents. I don't know what exactly, but there must be something he used to convince the police."In response to Dr Murdia’s allegations, Vikram alleged that he stopped the production of a film titled Virat mid-way. "He stopped the film Virat midway. And the payment that needs to be made to workers, about Rs 250 crore, has still not been paid. My technicians have called him. I think this is some tactic of his to avoid making payments. I have complete evidence for it. So my request to the police is: if you need proof, come to me, I will show everything. After that, you will know who is right and who is wrong," he told the publication. The case is still under investigation. Stay tuned for further developments.
