The satellite rights for Kumki 2 have been bagged by Zee Tamil. It is reported that the film will stream on Zee 5 after its theatrical run. Kumki 2 tells the story of a friendship between a man and an elephant. The film aims to explores a warm and emotional story which is said to appeal to families. On the technical side, Prabu Solomon is reuniting with his Sembi composer Nivas K Prasanna for Kumki 2's music, with lyrics by Prabu and Mohan Rajan, cinematography by M Sukumar, edits by Buvan, art direction by Vijay Thennarasu.
Recently a BTS video released by the film's team recently has created a stir among fans. In it, Mathi, is performing a scene with an elephant, carrying his younger brother on his shoulder, the elephant suddenly throws him ten feet away with its trunk. Netizens who saw the scene were shocked. Fortunately, the debutant escaped unharmed. The team said that if he had pushed with his tusk instead of his trunk, a major accident would have taken place.
Why Was Kumki 2 In Legal Trouble?
The Madras High Court had recently ordered a stay on the film's release (on 14 November) following a complaint by financier Chandraprakash Jain who had stated that a loan amount of Rs 2.5 crore had not been repaid by the makers. However, during a recent hearing, the court has clarified that there is no legal impediment to the release of the film.
The Court stated that PEN India Pvt. Ltd. is the producer of Kumki 2, with the censor certificate also standing the name of the production house. Kumki (2012), marked the debut of actor Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon. The film was acclaimed for its music, plot, and solid performances.
