OpenAI CEO is making headlines again. This time, Sam Altman revealed that his home was attacked on Friday, and now he has opened up about the incident. The attacker targeted Altman’s house with a Molotov cocktail, which ignited his exterior gate. The man was arrested by the police near the OpenAI headquarters, where he allegedly wanted to set the building on fire. Sam Altman Breaks Silence On The New Yorker ReportThe firebomb attack on Sam Altman’s home drew a response from him. He has also addressed the allegations made by The New Yorker. Notably, the publication accused the tech mogul of manipulation and deception. It labeled him as ‘conflict-averse’. Altman shared the entire incident and his stance on the New Yorker’s post through his personal
blog, where he has also shared a picture of his family. He wrote, “Images have power, I hope. Normally we try to be pretty private, but in this case I am sharing a photo in the hopes that it might dissuade the next person from throwing a Molotov cocktail at our house, no matter what they think about me.”
Notably, Altman acknowledged and accepted his ‘conflict-averse’ nature, an allegation that the publication put on him. However, he clarified that he is proud of his achievements and underestimates the power of narratives, calling the article ‘incendiary’. OpenAI Addressed Past ConflictsThe OpenAI CEO accepted that he has made mistakes in the past. He said that he did not handle a critical disagreement in the right way, especially with the previous board of the tech company. He admitted that he has flaws and made mistakes that could impact the people he works with. Altman apologised to the people he has hurt in the past and said, “I have made many other mistakes throughout the insane trajectory of OpenAI; I am a flawed person in the center of an exceptionally complex situation, trying to get a little better each year, always working for the mission. We knew going into this how huge the stakes of AI were, and that the personal disagreements between well-meaning people I cared about would be amplified greatly. But it’s another thing to live through these bitter conflicts and often to have to arbitrate them, and the costs have been serious. I am sorry to people I’ve hurt and wish I had learned more faster." However, this is not a first incident that involved an attack on the OpenAI office. Last year, a man wanted to murder the AI tech company's employees in San Francisco.
