The show will reportedly be disconnected from the original Korean series. Moreover, it remains unclear whether Blanchett would be playing the role of recruiter or if she would be starring in the series. According to the report by Collider, the audiences are expected to witness an epic crossover between the South Korean thriller, while the games will be played by new English players. The spin-off series had been buzzing on the internet since Squid Game season 3 wrapped up with Cate Blanchett’s cameo. Earlier, Hwang further addressed the widespread spin-off speculations. "I’ve heard the rumors too—about filming in December, about me directing it, or that David Fincher’s involved. Some even say Cate Blanchett is leading it. But honestly, none of it is based on fact. I’ve only seen those things in articles," he stated, debunking the spin-off buzz.
