AI startups and their products all around the world are facing heat for various reasons. Previously, we saw many celebrities and studios going against Sora 2. Now, problems have emerged for Perplexity,
too, and the resistance is coming from Amazon. In a recent development, Amazon has send a cease-and-desist letter to Perplexity and asked the officials to stop Comet AI browser from purchasing products on user's behalf. For those who are unaware, Perplexity's Comet browser consists of an AI agent that can search for products on amazon and even make the purchase for the user. And this didn't go well it Amazon has the ecommerce giant, has issued an 'aggressive legal threat' against Perplexity to strip off the feature from Comet. Perplexity has responded to the same and called the actions of Amazons could be classified as bullying. Officials at Perplexity said, 'Amazon should love this. Easier shopping means more transactions and happier customers. But Amazon doesn’t care. Furthermore, the giant also criticised Comet, suggesting that it provides a degraded shopping and customer service experience.
