The Bluff: Priyanka Chopra's 'Brutal, Bloody' Pirate Look From R-Rated Prime Video Adventure Out

Chopra is playing the role of Ercell Bodden, a pirate, in The Bluff, co-starring Karl Urban. The R-rated adventure directed by Frank Ewen Flowers Jr will stream on Prime Video from February 25, as per Esquire’s latest report. The first looks of Priyanka and Karl’s characters are out and they are ‘bloody’ good! Set in the late 1800s, the film is about Ercell Bodden, who is attacked by her former crew for fleeing their ranks years ago. Previously known as ‘Bloody Mary’, she is now a mother who lives a peaceful life on the island of the Caymans. In an interview, Priyanka spoke about her character preparation.

Talking to Esquire, Priyanka said, “I did not know anything about females who were pirates. I didn’t know that was a concept that actually happened or that women had captained their own ships at a time where piracy—real piracy—was not the Disney version of it. It was scary, it was bloody, it was brutal.”

Lauding the actress, director Frank told, “And for Priyanka to flex her muscles as a mom and a real modern-day superhero. She has an incredible work ethic, but she can kick ass. She’s formidable.” He added, “In the fight choreography, we were like, ‘Let’s base everything in reality. She’s got to fight dirty. She’s got to grab a conch shell to take down a strapping pirate. She’s got to get gritty and dirty and messy and bloody with it. So a lot of that informed how the movie shook out.”

Previously, Priyanka shared pictures from the sets of The Bluff. Her injuries left fans concerned. She wrote, “Bloody Fun times on #TheBluff Last week of filming! PS: fyi for the unversed, I’m on a film set and it’s all make up. The 1800s on pirate ships were violent times! Incredible to see how every department on a crew creates make believe into reality.” The Bluff is produced by Russo Brothers' banner AGBO Studios and Amazon MGM Studios.
