Mwlynnong in Meghalaya has rightfully earned the title of 'India's Cleanest Village'. Naturally, this little village would be your perfect getaway if you want to spend a clean break. With a population of only about 500, Mawlynnong is located in the West Khasi Hills region of Meghalaya. The title of being the cleanest village of the country was offered to this little village almost over a decade ago although it still wears the crown with pride even today. The water in this village is pristine and the streets are clean and free from any litter. The inhabitants of this village belong to the Khasi tribe and consider it their responsibility to live in harmony with nature.
Gokarna
Gokarna is a small beach town in the northern coast of Karnataka. Although, mostly known for its beautiful temples and long stretches of beaches, Gokarna is much less touristy than Goa. This makes Goa one of the cleanest beaches of the country. However, initially, Gokarna used to be a paradise for all the backpackers out there.
