After an impressive run at various film festivals, Saali Mohabbat, starring Radhika Apte and Divyenndu Sharma, is all set to make its OTT debut on ZEE5 later this year. Directed by Tisca Chopra, the upcoming feature film boasts an exciting cast of Anurag Kashyap, Anshumaan Pushkar, Sauraseni Maitra and Sharat Saxena.
Ahead of the movie's premiere on the streaming platform, the much-anticipated teaser of Saali Mohabbat has finally dropped, revealing a story that blends mystery, emotion, and twists.
The 1-minute and 7-second clip opens with an age-old quote, "Kya lagta hai - ghar phodi, katla aur chori."
The teaser indicates a murder mystery where Divyenndu Sharma's character investigates and becomes suspicious of Radhika Apte's character, Smita. The case involves a double murder in Geeta Colony. The teaser also features Anurag Kashyap in a mysterious role.
Sharing the teaser on Instagram, ZEE5 wrote, “Jab pyaar aur saazish ek hi case mein mile… toh aisa pyaar banjata hai #SaaliMohabbat. Teaser out now! #SaaliMohabbatOnZEE5.”
The thriller-drama revolves around Smita, a small-town housewife whose seemingly ordinary life transforms into a story about infidelity, deception, and moral ambiguity. Described as "the genre-defining ‘how-dunnit’,” the film marks Apte's reunion with ZEE5 after her previous platform appearance in Mrs. Undercover.
It is produced by Jio Studios and Manish Malhotra's Stage5 Production, marking the acclaimed fashion designer's digital debut as a producer. The film also marks the directorial debut of acclaimed actor Tisca Chopra.
The upcoming film marks the fourth collaboration between ZEE5 and Jio Studios, following Hisaab Barabar, Mrs. and Bhagwat.
Saali Mohabbat premiered at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year and at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival this year.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the quiet tensions that exist beneath the surface of relationships — the invisible power struggles, the unspoken expectations, the ways in which love can transform into something darker. This film explores those fragile boundaries — of trust, betrayal, and identity — but through a deeply female perspective," Chopra was quoted as saying by Variety.
