What is the story about?
The makers of the blockbuster Dhurandhar franchise may not be done just yet. Hinting at a possible expansion of the series, Jio Studios’ Jyoti Deshpande said there could be more in store for fans, though she stopped short of confirming whether it would be a third film, a spin-off, or another project altogether.
The producer, in a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, hinted that something new was already in the works. She said, “We’re not done with Dhurandhar yet. We’ll hopefully have a surprise for the audience later this year. There’s something up our sleeves.”
Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the Dhurandhar franchise has become one of the biggest success stories of Indian cinema in recent years.
In the franchise, Ranveer plays an Indian spy operating under different identities, including Jaskirat Singh Rangi and Hamza Ali Mazari. While the first film was already huge, the sequel took things to another level altogether.
The original 2025 release reportedly earned ₹840.20 crore at the box office. But Dhurandhar: The Revenge exploded globally in 2026, with trade estimates suggesting worldwide collections of nearly ₹1,700–1,800 crore. In India alone, the film crossed ₹1140.72 crore so far, as per Sacnilk. Together, the two films are said to have collected over ₹3,100 crore worldwide.
The second film especially grabbed attention for its storyline set in Pakistan’s Lyari, where Ranveer’s character becomes the “King of Lyari” while secretly working to destroy terror networks from within.
Besides Ranveer Singh who plays the protagonist, the film also stars R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun and Danish Pandor among many others. The film was released on December 5, 2025 while the sequel arrived in theatres this year on March 19.
