Dhurandhar box office collection Day 1: Ranveer Singh’s film sets new record, garners ₹27 crore

Raveer Singh’s much-anticipated action-drama Dhurandhar has opened to a huge response at theatres with record collection at the domestic box office. The movie shattered box office records with a net collection of ₹27 crore in India on its first day, on December 5, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.

Dhurandharwitnessed a total Hindi occupancy of 33.81% and 6200 shows in India, as per the Sacnilk data. The maximum occupancy was witnessed for the afternoon and night shows (35.6% and 55.9%, respectively).

The Aditya Dhar directorial features Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun in pivotal roles.

Industry experts believe that the film has done extremely well to be the biggest opening ofRanveer Singh’s career so far, as it has left behind the likes of Simmba (₹20.72 crore net) and Padmaavat (₹24 crore net) significantly.

seems to have exceeded its initial first-day box office collection projections of ₹15–18 crore, following a wide release with a hefty number of shows in both urban and rural areas.

Dhurandhar has now become the second-highest opener of 2025, leaving behind Saiyaara, which had garnered ₹21.9 crore on its first day. Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Chhava remains 2025’s highest opener with a collection of ₹31 (India net) on the opening day.

As per the Sacnilk data, Durandhar is expected to garner an estimated ₹1.09 crore at the domestic box office on Day 2 on December 6.

The film helmed by Aditya Dhar is a blend of real-life situations, such as the Kandahar Hijack and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The movie has opened to positive reviews for its plot and performance by the lead actors.

Movie-goers described the film as a ‘blockbuster’ and encouraged others not to pay any heed to the negative reviews. Many social media users said that Aditya Dhar created one of the best spy thrillers in Bollywood and that Ranveer Singh made a stunning comeback. The movie’s dramatic action sequences, impactful background music, brilliant character development and skillful editing have caught the attention of viewers.

Ranveer Singh and R Madhavan's performances were highly lauded; some even went as far as calling the film a ‘must-see’ for people who love the action-thriller genre. Many viewers claimed that the last half hour and the ending of the film were surprising and very intense.
