The event will be held on January 17, 2026, at Jio World Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex, on the fifth death anniversary of the Padma Vibhushan awardee. It is organised by his family and disciples, and presented by NR Talent and Event Management.
This year’s edition brings together AR Rahman, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan - all former students of Khan - for a shared performance. Rahman is curating the set, according to a press statement from the organisers.
What is Haazri
Haazri is an annual musical tribute built around Khan’s legacy and training tradition. The format blends classical, Sufi and contemporary music. It is not structured as a commercial concert series. Each edition is tied to his
Khan belonged to the Rampur Sahaswan gharana and trained multiple generations of singers across classical and film music. Among them: Asha Bhosle, Rahman, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam, Shaan and Shilpa Rao.
Rahman, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan all on one stage for the first time ever
This is the first time Rahman, Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan will perform together on the same stage in a single curated segment.
Rahman, who performed at Haazri in the previous edition, said he will design a special set for the occasion and confirmed the four would appear together. He added that he is looking forward to sharing the stage with Hariharan, Sonu Nigam and Shaan.
Hariharan described the evening as emotional and said he makes it a point to attend every year. He said Khan is remembered daily and that the upcoming edition will be special because Rahman is curating the programme.
He added that performing together will bring “a lot of energy and emotions” to the stage.
Sonu Nigam said Khan continues to live on through his students and family, and described the performance as an emotional experience.
Shaan said he felt honoured to be part of the event and described Khan as more than a teacher, calling him a father figure. He said sharing the stage with his fellow students was a privilege.
Khan’s sons - Murtuza Mustafa Khan, Qadir Mustafa Khan, Rabbani Mustafa Khan and Hasan Mustafa Khan - will also perform at Hazri 2026. His grandsons, Faiz Mustafa Khan and Zain Mustafa, are part of the Sufi segment.
Organisers Rabbani Mustafa Khan and Namrata Gupta Khan said the intent was to keep the tribute focused on music rather than spectacle, and to reflect Khan’s teaching lineage rather than individual stardom.
The programme is planned as a single-night event.
