What is the story about?
The makers of Vijay Sethupathi’s highly anticipated film, SlumDog: 33 Temple Road, released the teaser on Monday, June 8, which hints at an intense action drama. The upcoming film marks the first-ever collaboration between the National Award-winning actor and director Puri Jagannadh, known for films like Pokiri, Businessman, and more.
The one-minute 15-second video has already generated considerable buzz among the actor's fans due to its intriguing visuals, action-packed sequences, and the enigmatic nature of Sethupathi’s character.
The teaser opens with
Sethupathi voicing a powerful dialogue aimed at those who exploit the poor. “Our lives are spent seeking shelter under trees when it rains. If you play games with lives like ours, why would we spare you?” he declares, setting a tone for the gritty drama.
As the teaser progresses, it hints that the film is going to be packed with high-octane action sequences, tender emotional moments and lots of suspense.
Throughout the teaser,Sethupathi i s seen in a rough, scruffy avatar unlike anything fans have seen before. He is set to portray a visually impaired beggar, which happens to be one of the most intriguing parts of the teaser. Initially appearing vulnerable and helpless, he hints at being anything but that.
The makers seem to have deliberately kept Sethupathi's character’s true identity under wraps, as the teaser ends without revealing whether he is someone the audience should root for or if he is hiding a larger secret, leaving viewers with more questions and intrigue.
Besides the 48-year-old actor, SlumDog features Samyuktha as the female lead, actress Tabu will be seen portraying a police officer, whereas Kannada star Duniya Vijay will take up the role of the antagonist. The supporting cast also includes Zarina Wahab, VTV Ganesh and Brahmaji in key roles.
The film’s shooting has been completed, and it is currently in post-production. SlumDog is being produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under the Puri Connects banner in association with JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla's JB Motion Pictures.
SlumDog: 33 Temple Road will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. The makers are yet to announce an official release date for the film.
