Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana are expected to experience partly cloudy skies over the next few days. Several isolated locations, particularly in eastern Uttar Pradesh, such as Varanasi, Prayagraj, Mau, and neighbouring districts, are likely to experience light to moderate rain and thundershowers.
The Delhi-NCR is also predicted to have partly cloudy skies.
Northern India – Uttarakhand and neighbouring hill-regions
The IMD predicts that all districts in Uttarakhand will experience largely clear skies and dry weather on Monday. In mountainous regions, minimum temperatures are often around 9 °C (for instance, Dehradun has a forecast minimum of 9 °C and a maximum of 27 °C for the day).
Western and Central India – Maharashtra
A persistent cold wave has been observed in Maharashtra, particularly in 11 districts, including the Mumbai–Pune area, with a significant drop in temperatures. With reports of a discernible chill in Mumbai, Marathwada, Vidarbha, and north Maharashtra, the temperature decline observed in north India has now spread to Maharashtra. The cold wave will be especially noticeable in Marathwada and North Maharashtra, where minimum temperatures have drastically dropped, according to an IMD alert.
Jalgaon was the coldest part of Maharashtra this weekend, with the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 8.7°C, six degrees below average. The districts of Nashik, Ahmednagar, Jalna, Beed, Hingoli, and Nanded are also anticipated to encounter conditions similar to cold waves.
West Bengal / Kolkata region
Daytime temperatures in West Bengal have marginally increased as a result of a weakening low-pressure system, but the onset of cold is still pending. For now, the days are warm, but chilly evenings with the potential for morning mist or fog.
In hilly regions like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir, temperatures are also dropping, and snowfall is predicted in the higher altitudes, making the cold in the plains much more severe.
