The upcoming movie features Black and Rudd as best friends Doug and Griff, who, while facing midlife crises, decide to remake the classic snake movie in the Amazon with their indie film cast and crew.
"Doug and Griff have been best friends since they were kids, and have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favourite movie, the cinematic 'classic' Anaconda," according to a synopsis for the film.
"When a midlife crisis pushes them to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they're dying to make? Ice Cube, who starred in the original film, makes a cameo appearance, adding to the excitement. Nearly three decades after starring in the original film, the actor surprised fans by making an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of a comedic new take on the franchise.
In a conversation with People, he said, "It's cool to do a cameo, to kind of make it go full circle in a way. When they asked me to do it, when I knew the kind of movie they were doing, I jumped at it. I'm like, 'This is something different. It’s cool.'” Directed by Luis Llosa, the 1997 cult film Anaconda also starred Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde and Owen Wilson.
