What is the story about?
John Mayer’s much-anticipated Mumbai concert has been postponed by 15 days. In an official statement, BookMyShow said the concert, which marks Mayer's India debut, originally scheduled for January 22, 2026, will now take place on February 11, 2026, at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course. The platform added that all tickets purchased will remain valid for the new date.
"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the John Mayer concert scheduled for January 22, 2026, has been postponed to February 11th, 2026, at Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai. All existing tickets purchased on BookMyShow will remain valid for the rescheduled date," BookMyShow said, advising customers to reach out to its support team for ticket-related queries.
However, the platform has not provided any information on refunds for those who do not wish to attend the concert on the new date.
The seven-time Grammy Award-winning artist was set to perform in India for the first time with a one-night-only show in Mumbai. With a career spanning over two decades, Mayer has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and is known for hits such as 'Gravity', 'Daughters', 'Slow Dancing in a Burning Room', 'Your Body Is a Wonderland', 'Waiting On the World to Change ' and 'New Light'. He has also collaborated with acclaimed artists including Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Ed Sheeran and Alicia Keys.
The postponement comes amid changes to Mayer's West Asia tour schedule as well. His Abu Dhabi concert, scheduled for January 24, 2026, has been postponed to February 15, 2026. Additionally, the concert in Bahrain, originally slated for Tuesday, January 20, 2026, has been postponed to Friday, February 13, 2026.
The postponements come shortly after the death of Bob Weir, Mayer’s Dead & Company bandmate, who passed away on January 10 at the age of 78. Mayer and Weir first collaborated on The Late Late Show in February 2015, later going on to perform together as part of Dead & Company. While the band wrapped up its farewell tour in July 2023, they continued to play residencies at the Sphere in Las Vegas through 2024 and 2025, before reuniting one final time in August 2025 for three shows at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park to mark the Grateful Dead’s 60th anniversary.
