What is the story about?
Badshah has reworked his controversial track Tateeree after facing backlash. The rapper announced that all ‘derogatory’ portions from the song have been removed. The new version will be released on April 14.
Badshah shared this update on Friday through an Instagram note, after meeting several authorities, including the National Commission for Women.
In his statement, he wrote, “In the last few days, we listened to what government authorities, the National Commission for Women, social workers, and people who care about our society had to say about our song Tateeree. We have made necessary changes to the song and have also removed those portions that were deemed derogatory.”
The rapper also addressed the responsibility that comes with his work. “I respect the feedback and the intent behind it. Besides being an artist, it's equally important to also be responsible towards society and culture,” he said.
Along with this, Badshah announced a new version of the track titled Tateeree Phir Se. He shared a glimpse and confirmed that the updated version will release on April 14 across platforms.
He added, “Your support, your voice, and your trust has kept this song alive. I hope its new version will carry the same energy and respect.”
The original song had sparked widespread criticism online, with many calling its lyrics ‘vulgar’ and ‘obscene.’ As the backlash grew, Badshah had earlier issued a public apology. In a video, Badshah said, “I am a very proud Haryanvi. I never intended to talk badly about any child or woman of Haryana.”
The matter also reached authorities. Earlier this week, he appeared before the National Commission for Women and submitted a written apology. According to Badshah’s legal counsel, he also promised the commission to release a women empowerment song within four months.
Haryana Police also took action online after the due legal process. They removed 857 links related to the song in coordination with social media platforms.
