What is the story about?
Yash Raj Films has announced that the release of its upcoming crime thriller, Mardaani 3, starring Rani Mukerji, has been preponed to January 30, 2026. The film was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on February 27.
The announcement was made via Yash Raj Films' official Instagram account, alongside the first poster of the film. The post reads, "She won’t stop, until she rescues them all! #RaniMukerji is back as the fearless cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in #Mardaani3. Rescue begins in cinemas near you on 30th Jan." The poster shows Mukerji’s character, SP Shivani Shivaji Roy, holding a gun, with several girls behind her, their faces marked as "missing".
Mardaani 3 is the third instalment in the franchise that began in 2014 with Mardaani and continued with Mardaani 2 in 2019. While the first film focused on human trafficking, and the second explored the case of a psychotic serial rapist, the latest instalment reportedly centres on Shivani’s mission to rescue multiple missing girls across India.
The film is directed by Abhiraj Minawala in his directorial debut and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, along with co-producers Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani. It also features Anirban Bhattacharya, Neena Gupta, and Jim Sarbh in pivotal roles.
