Trade analyst and movie critic Taran Adarsh confirmed the development on Saturday through X (formerly Twitter).
He wrote that Aditya Chopra stepped aside for Salman Khan’s project, moving Alpha from its earlier release window.
“#BreakingNews,” he wrote, ‘ALPHA’ AVOIDS CLASH WITH ‘BATTLE OF GALWAN’ – YRF TO DECIDE ON NEW DATE,”

Adarsh’s post read, adding that the studio would reassess the release calendar over the next few months before finalising a new slot.
This is the second delay for Alpha. The film was initially expected to arrive in December 2025, before being shifted to April 2026 to allow more time for post-production.
Now, it will move again to steer clear of a clash that could have split audiences and screens between two major titles.
About Alpha: Hindi cinema’s first female-led spy film
Alpha is positioned as Hindi cinema’s first female-led spy film within the YRF franchise. The movie featuresAlia Bhatt in the lead, alongside Sharvari Wagh and Bobby Deol in key roles.
A short post-credit scene in War 2 offered audiences the first glimpse of the connection. In that sequence, Deol’s character brands an agency logo on a young recruit’s hand, explaining that Alpha represents “the first, the fastest, the strongest.”
The moment served as both a teaser and an introduction to the film’s universe, signalling YRF’s continuing expansion of interconnected stories under its spy banner.
New release date to be announced after schedule review
YRF is expected to study the 2026 release calendar before confirming a new date for Alpha.
For now, Battle of Galwan - led by Salman Khan - retains the April slot, setting up the year’s first major action release.
Both projects remain part of high-profile franchise storytelling, but the decision means the box office showdown that was expected next April won’t happen after all.
