De De Pyaar De 2 fan review: Ajay Devgn’s film a laugh riot with emotional depth

Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh are back on the big screen with the much-awaited sequel to their romantic comedy De De Pyaar De. Six years after the first instalment of the age-gap romcom, De De Pyaar De 2 finally arrived in theatres today (November 14), and first reviews from audiences have already taken social media by storm.

After seeing the film in its early showings on the first day, some fans have given their honest opinions about it. Early reviews from critics and audiences suggest the film is an entertaining romantic comedy with a good blend of humour and drama.

Lauding the film on X, film trade expert Ramesh Bala wrote, "A perfect blend of comedy and drama. #DeDePyaarDe2 is a 100% family entertainer made for the big screens. Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan kill it once again with their witty face-off. Rakul Preet Singh and Meezaan Jafri have totally nailed it!"

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel praised the sequel, calling it “an enjoyable film just like Part 1.” He wrote in part, “DDPD2 is an enjoyable film just like Part 1, because its story begins exactly where the first one ended six years ago … Overall, DDPD2 is a rare sequel that truly justifies the word ‘sequel’. It offers a full dose of comedy, emotions, and drama.”

The sequel also features R Madhavan as Ayesha’s father and Gautami Kapoor as her mother, alongside Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezaan Jafri, Ishita Dutta, Suhasini Mulay, Gracy Goswami, and Jyoti Gauba.

Not only has the movie advanced over the years, but Luv Ranjan's portrayal of men has as well. From the boys-will-be-boys of his 'Punchnama' days to the present, when prospective boyfriends are eager to assist the girl in obtaining her "asli pyaar," and the happiness of women.

Just like most theatrical releases, De De Pyaar De 2 will also be available on digital platforms a few weeks after its run. According to TOI, Netflix has acquired the film's post-theatrical streaming rights, and the digital distribution is scheduled for January 2026.
