What is the story about?
Music composer and singer Palash Muchhal has filed a ₹10 crore defamation suit against Marathi actor and producer Vidnyan Mane, rejecting allegations that he cheated Mane of ₹40 lakh and made personal claims about Muchhal’s private life.
According to Muchhal, the accusations were made with a deliberate intent to damage his reputation, both personally and professionally. The legal action follows public scrutiny around Muchhal’s relationship with cricketer Smriti Mandhana, whose wedding plans with the composer were recently called off.
On social media, Muchhal confirmed the legal move, stating that his lawyer had issued a notice to Mane for the "false, outrageous and highly defamatory accusations".
The dispute reportedly began when Mane approached Muchhal in Sangli on December 5, 2023, expressing interest in investing in film production. Mane claims Muchhal encouraged him to invest in a project titled Nazaria, promising a ₹12 lakh return on a ₹25 lakh investment once the film was released on OTT platforms, and also offered him a role in the project.
Mane alleges he paid a total of ₹40 lakh by March 2025. However, the film was never completed, and Mane says his requests for a refund went unanswered. In addition to the financial allegations, Mane also accused Muchhal of infidelity during his relationship with Mandhana.
Muchhal has categorically denied all claims, insisting the allegations are false and were made to deliberately harm his reputation. No police FIR has been registered in the case so far.
