Rukh Khan and filmmaker Farah Khan will reportedly reunite after almost 12 years for Main Hoon Na 2, a sequel to their 2004 blockbuster. An official announcement is pending. Shah Rukh is currently working on his next theatrical release, King.
It was reported last year that the filmmaker was working on a script, and the project now appears to be a priority for the duo.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the actor-director duo is reportedly in discussions for a reunion for Main Hoon Na 2, a frontrunner for the superstar's upcoming release, King. This potential collaboration will be their first film together after a long gap and could feature the actor in a double role.
"Farah Khan has cracked an exciting double-role concept for Shah Rukh Khan, which has excited the superstar. The idea is said to elevate the emotion and entertainment quotient of the sequel, while SRK will explore two contrasting characters," sources told the outlet.

For the sequel, the makers plan to reunite the original ensemble with new stars, and it will be a patriotic film like the first instalment. It has been confirmed by sources that the core story idea was personally conceived by Shah Rukh Khan and has since been transitioned into a full screenplay by writer Aakash Kaushik.
While the project is in active development, a final decision is expected after SRK hears a full narration around May 2026, after wrapping up King.
"Shah Rukh Khan is expected to hear the complete narration of Main Hoon Na 2 after wrapping up the shoot of King around May 2026. He will take a call on the project post the narration, while the writing process continues in full swing," it added.
Main Hoon Naa, the debut directorial of Farah Khan, hit the cinemas in 2004. The film was a hit at the box office.
