In a statement shared on Instagram, the band wrote, "We have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane's Addiction will remain the work the four of us created together. We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavours."
The statement, apparently penned by Navarro, Eric Avery, and Stephen Perkins, addressed the Boston incident, saying they "unilaterally determined it would be best to not continue the tour."
Avery, Perkins and Navarro further admitted that they “made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health which we regret.”
That final sentence probably refers to a statement that the group released in the days following the Boston performance. “Due to a continuing pattern of behaviour and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour,” Navarro, Avery and Perkins stated in the aftermath of the incident.
For the onstage confrontation he initiated with Navarro, Farrell apologised at the time.
In his statement today, posted on Instagram, he did so again. "I didn’t handle myself the way I should have. I apologise to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show," his new statement reads.
In his 2024 statement, he wrote, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult, and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologise to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show.”
In July of this year, the other band members filed a $10 million lawsuit against Farrell. They alleged that his ‘repeated and unprovoked’ onstage attack on Navarro had caused the band significant losses, due to the cancellation of tour dates and a planned album. Farrell reacted by filing his own court lawsuit, accusing his bandmates of years of bullying and harassment.
The trio's latest statement read, "We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavours. Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we created together."
“You, the fans, are our lifeblood, and we will always appreciate you," it concluded.
Formed in 1985 in Los Angeles, the band's 2024 reunion tour marked the first time the original members had performed together since 2010.
